Brief Bio – Consul General Weert Börner, LL.M.

Weert Börner, LL.M., has been serving as the German Consul General in Lagos, Nigeria since August 2022. A seasoned diplomat, he has played a pivotal role in strengthening Germany’s foreign relations across multiple countries.

With a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in International Environmental Law from The American University, Washington D.C. (1991), Mr. Börner joined the German Foreign Service in 1995 and has since held key positions.

As Consul General in Nigeria, his mission is to enhance bilateral relations between Germany and Nigeria. His focus areas include trade & investment, energy, environment, vocational training, and academic exchange, reflecting the vast potential for cooperation between both nations.
